O'Brien Icehouse

O'Brien Icehouse

The O’Brien Icehouse is Australia’s world-class ice sports and entertainment venue located within the Waterfront City precinct at Melbourne’s Docklands. Opened in February 2010, The Icehouse is the only venue of its type in Australia and features two Olympic sized ice skating rinks, gym, retail store, bar and café.

The main rink, the Henke Rink, named after Australian ice sports champion Geoffrey Henke AO, includes stadium seating for 1,000 and is home to Melbourne’s ice hockey team competing in the Australian Ice Hockey League, the Melbourne Ice. The second rink is called the Bradbury Rink, named after Steven Bradbury who won a gold medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics, and is also used for recreational skating available to the general public. The venue is also home of the Olympic Winter Institute of Australia.
