North Harbour Stadium (NZ)

North Harbour Stadium (previously known as QBE Stadium) is a 25,000 capacity (19,000 seated) multi-purpose facility at the heart of the North Harbour region in Auckland, New Zealand. The Stadium is the centrepiece of the 23 hectare North Shore Domain that also includes a large Oval field and four sporting fields dedicated to community use.

In early 1990, a handful of visionary people assembled to discuss the concept of a multi-purpose sports, recreation, cultural and entertainment facility for the North Harbour region. Located at Albany and opening in March 1997 the $41 million project became a reality, thanks to the support of the hundreds who contributed financially. The stadium includes a main grandstand with seating for 12,000 and corporate facilities while a single tier of seating is located opposite and grass hills at both ends.

The venue has played host to All Blacks test matches and trial games, Kiwi Rugby League Internationals, All White World Cup qualifying matches, Super Rugby, domestic rugby union fixtures and the FIFA Under 17 World Football Championship. The Auckland Blues now play all their Super Rugby home games at Eden Park, but the venue continues to host home games for North Harbour Rugby Union in the domestic competition. Auckland Tuatara have played their ABL home games at the venue since the 2019/20 season, with the stadium redeveloped at a cost of $2 million including removing 3000 seats from the west stand to allow a baseball field to fit, thus reducing its capacity from 25,000. It is now considered the best baseball venue in Australasia by the ABL. The venue was known as QBE Stadium between January 2014 and 2019, but has since reverted back to its original name of North Harbour Stadium.
