Saxton Oval (NZ)

Saxton Oval, located in the Saxton Field complex (also known as Saxton Field) was jointly constructed by Nelson City Council, Tasman District Council and the Nelson Cricket Association. This followed the Association’s move from Trafalgar Park.

The Oval is part of a wider sports complex which also offers athletics, association football, field hockey and softball facilities.

A new pavilion was added in 2011 and is now the home of representative cricket, athletics and football, as well as a function centre.

The unique cylindrical shaped building features internal spaces which work independently of the outer shell and provide international standard cricket facilities, public toilets, administration, bar and kitchen, timekeeping and storage facilities.
