Townsville Entertainment Centre

The Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre is located on Townsville's waterfront and was constructed in 1993 to meet the growing demand for a convention venue in the tropics. The venue is jointly owned by the Townsville City Council, Thuringowa City Council and Breakwater Island Trust and has been managed by Breakwater Island Trust since its opening in February 1993. In 1997 its capacity was increased by 1,100 seats and all function areas refurbished to what is a facility of truly international standard. The Centre's interior, whilst stylish, maintains a warm tropical character.

The Centre was previously the home court of former NBL team Townsville Crocodiles and is the new home of the Townsville Fire WNBL team as of the 2021/22 season. The venue also hosted basketball matches during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games and has previously even hosted a Davis Cup tennis tie.
