Bankwest secure rights to Western Sydney Stadium

The new Western Sydney Stadium will officially be known as Bankwest Stadium following the announcement of a seven-year naming-rights deal.

NSW Minister for Sport and Minister for Western Sydney Stuart Ayres made the announcement at the Stadium today alongside Bankwest Managing Director Rowan Munchenberg.

“Bankwest has embraced the opportunity to be part of booming Western Sydney and the company’s commitment to the naming rights of the venue is a huge vote of confidence in both the future of the Stadium and the region,” Mr Ayres said.

“This deal is important for the Stadium to be financially self-sustaining, making sure there is no burden to taxpayers to cover ongoing running costs.

The $360 million new stadium is on track to be completed on time and on budget and already has a host of sports events locked in.

The Parramatta Eels (NRL) and Western Sydney Wanderers (A-League) will be the main anchor tenants of the new stadium with the Eels to host the opening event when they face Wests Tigers on Easter Monday.

The Wests Tigers will also host three home games at the venue while the Wanderers take on English club Leeds United in July. The Rugby League 9s will also be held at Bankwest Stadium in October.

The stadium has been under construction since June 2017 and will feature 30,000 seats, all undercover and close to the action with steep terraces. There are 3,000 premium seats and 54 suites, two big video screens, 360-degree open concourse with views of the field and first-class player and spectator facilities.
